I’m Marina, the owner of Artem Florum floral design, and a wedding florist in Plymouth, Devon. I’d like to take a moment to share a bit about my journey into the world of floristry and how my passion for flowers blossomed.
For me, flowers carry a special significance, filling our senses with joy and evoking cherished memories. I’ve always had a deep love for flowers, and it stems from my lifelong connection to nature. As a child, I was constantly drawn to the outdoors—a passion that remains with me today.
Whether walking in the woods, exploring the moors, or wandering along the beach, being in nature has always grounded me and provided a sense of peace. This deep connection to the natural world often inspires my floral designs, as I love bringing the beauty of the outdoors into indoor spaces. This passion led me to create Artem Florum floral design, where I can share my love for flowers with others who appreciate their beauty just as much as I do!
My Story
I’ve spent most of my career working as an Interior Designer and property developer, both in London and abroad. While I loved creating beautiful spaces for people to enjoy, I eventually found myself yearning for a change. Alongside this, I also worked as an Aromatherapist, where I discovered the incredible healing properties of flowers and their scents. When I decided it was time to leave London, the natural choice was to return to Devon, where I grew up. I wanted to reconnect with nature and immerse myself in a career that truly brought me joy.
I went on to study Floral Design at the Academy of Floral Art, a Royal Horticultural Society Gold Medal-winning floristry school in Devon. The experience was incredible, and I had the privilege of learning from some truly talented tutors who encouraged me to follow my dream. I owe them a huge ‘thank you’!
Becoming a Floral Designer felt like a natural progression, allowing me to blend my passion for flowers with the fulfilment of doing what I love every day. And that’s how my journey began.
